Eagles and Osprey regularly patrol the lake in search of food. There are resident nesting pairs of these magnificent creatures including the Bald Eagle that sits high in a Cottonwood tree along the south shore- which is easy to observe. Watching these birds fish really puts the 'awe' in awesome!
The 2015 season was off to a slow start. But things have been picking up lately. A 2 1/2 pound Kokanee was recorded on 6/2/15 by a local in Joseph. And more smaller kokanee are being harvested. The average size right now is 6-8 inches. The bigger ones are out there. Just few and far between. The trout fishing is good. Quite a few big trout have been brought in, anywhere from 15-20 inches. I have been having most of my luck with a flasher and a spin glo, tipped with maggots and using Smelly Jelly scent bait. I have landed over 50 kokanee in the last week and a half, most of them between 6-9 inches. And I have had multiple people moored at our dock bring in buckets of smaller kokanee. There may still be a World Record swimming around out there. So get up here and try it out!!
